Hasra was born as a mining settlement of the Elentian empire about four hundred years ago, and roughly a hundred years before the fall. Silver, gold and many types of precious stones were exported to Elentia.
In addition, fire rubies were taken from the blasted lands and flowed along the trade road that ran from Hasra back to Elentia. Both contributed to the vast wealth Hasra amassed over the years.
When the Elentian empire fell Hasra was the only imperial settlement beyond the Ashwall, and declared themsevles the rightful rulers of the lands of the West. They had not only a garrison of the imperial legion, but also a small school for training battlemages.
This gave them the power to control the area immediately around them, and as they added more city states to their growing imperium Hasra gained in strength. They would likely have conquered the West entirely, save for the opposition they found to the south east.
Roughly a hundred years after the fall Hasra and Olivantia met for the first time, and have warred ever since.
