Point of View Characters
Harl- Larken’s stepfather and wife of LarkenMother. Harl is the one who killed Larken’s father in the prologue, and is now mayor of the town.
Larken- Larken is Temis’ younger brother. Both are descended from the great summoner Olivanticus. He is one of two main characters in the novel.
Temis- Temis is Larken’s older brother. Both are descended from the great summoner Olivanticus. He is one of two main characters in the novel.
Sylvitriana- Sylvi is one of the Na’Elfen in the Blood Wood, and becomes a close confidant of Temis.
Non-Point of view characters
Daikon- Daikon is the Knight of the Twilight from the prologue. He was sent by Praetor Valys to help plan and execute the Night of Black Blood. Since then he has served as an ambassador from Hasra to Olivantia. When he encounters Larken he is quick to enslave him, so that he can be brought to Praetor Valys for Bonding.
Praetor Valys- Needs a first name. The Praetor has headed his house for nearly thirty years, and led them through the last war with Olivantia. That war took place about twenty years ago, and was a disastrous loss for Hasra. Only Praetor Valys prevented the loss from becoming total route, and he was responsible for nearly every victory Hasra had in that war.
